Have you ever experienced while walking, drinking coffee or just plain sitting with a friend or just by yourself in a public place, suddenly someone would puff their smoke and you just find yourself inhaling that dreadful fume? I bet so you did. It’s so irritating right? [its not that I hate those people but i hate the smoke that was released in the air] Yet you can’t do nothing about it especially to Filipinos or other people who just seem too nice to say what don’t they like “bro, can you smoke somewhere else?” or if they are offended with the act. Unlike me when someone smokes I do a fake cough so that will enable the smoker to hear it so that he/she will know; funny right? but it gives them the idea that they bother other people with their smoke and hopefully feel ashamed of it. I’m not mad at smokers per se the thing here is just if you can’t help smoking then do it where you can’t bother other people who doesn’t.
As a biologist I know that Smoking can cause dreadful effects over a human body…. [Break screeches] wait yeah, yeah; yeah I know this statement is so overrated but how bad it could be that keep these people puffing that cigar. Can it be not that bad? I know some people puff smoke for a reason; some puff it because of the cold weather, some feels something funny may happen in their stomach when they don’t, while the most pointless of all the reasons I’ve heard is that they do it to look cool.
A cigar contains an average of 4700 chemicals. 200 are poisonous while 43 are carcinogenic. To name some of these chemicals includes cyanide, acetone, carbon monoxide [product of incomplete combustion], arsenic, nicotine [causes the addiction], tar, ammonia and a lot more.
Here in the Philippines there are variety of cigar companies that exist one of them is Marlboro which is the largest bought cigarette brand and unfortunately only has a text warning about cigarette smoking, not like in other countries such as the US and Australia wherein they indicate picture of dreadful effects of smoking internally and externally in a human body and it helps promote awareness to all the populace.
Yet everyday a significant number of people especially teens begin to smoke and regrettably becoming addicted to it in the long run.
If we can’t eradicate this addiction probably at least we can play it down. Don’t we? It’s so funny that I’m using a lot of rhetorical questions here, but I only do it because you [reader] are the only one who can decide, agree or negate for yourself and with my dispositions. But yeah the quality of our life will and always depends on our lifestyle so I say if we want a life well lived lets think about what’s best for us especially with our own selves because how can we love others if we don’t love ourselves.
